Build trade units (ships / caravans), point them at a nearby city and get a constant gold per turn bonus. It's a fire-and-forget system, but it's a nice addition all the same. They can also function as diplomats, helping you keep tabs on the player as well as giving you a smallish tourism bonus. They can be used to either steal tech from rivals, or safeguard your own tech. You get spies automatically at certain points in the game. Religions can be quite fun and add a good amount of depth to gameplay.Įspionage. Introduces a new resource (faith) that is used to found religions which provide various bonuses. I won't list them, but the net effect is to smooth gameplay out and generally make it less of a hassle to do things optimally. There are a lot of minor gameplay changes and balances.
